Advice for Australians Overseas

The Australian Government advises all Australians: do not travel overseas at this time. This is the highest level of travel advice. If Australians are already overseas and wish to return to Australia, it is recommended they do so as soon as possible by commercial means. Only Australian citizens, permanent residents and immediate family members can travel to Australia.  All travellers arriving in Australia will be required to undertake a mandatory 14-day quarantine at designated facilities (eg. a hotel) in their port of arrival. Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents are restricted from travelling overseas.  Travel restrictions are subject to change. Some exemptions are in place.  Check the Australian Department of Home Affairs website regularly for latest information.

As the situation on COVID-19 remains fluid, the Australian High Commission encourages Australians to subscribe for updates from the Smartraveller website and follow the mission’s  Facebook and Twitter accounts.  Australians can also register their details with the Australian High Commission via email: ahc.portlouis@dfat.gov.au so that they can be contacted if the mission becomes aware of future unscheduled commercial flight departures.  Australians can access 24 hour emergency consular assistance overseas by calling +61-2-6261 3305.
